When Kamala Harris exclaimed, "Oh my god, what's going to happen to our country?" when being told she would not win the presidential election. My answer would be, " "Nothing, absolutely nothing will happen to it, because you did not have and still don't have a plan for what ails America. At no point in the last two years has she said anything pertinent about Gaza, the economy, it's all same o, same o, democrat silence and stiff upper lip.
No matter what you think about Trump, he has brought this country to the brink of a change that was a long time coming. What kind of change is important if trying to establish where each one of us are going to stand or fall. We better figure out what we will fight for, what are we willing to sacrifice and what we refuse to be sacrificed for.
And yet, in a recent poll, Kamala Harris is the leader in possible Democratic contenders for the 2028 nomination nod. Go figure.
Personally, I don't want a Charlie Kirk memorial on every campus, like Oklahoma is trying to establish or a street, like Martin Luther King Blvd, in every city. To compare Kirk to MLK is calling Trump the greatest president ever. Does anyone really look at him? This country is as surreal as any acid trip of a bygone era. It becomes more and more important that we recognize that America will not be the same from here on in.
If racist and misogynist people can't see that black people, women, immigrants are not only capable as anyone else to do the jobs that need doing but also, no more, no less fallible, ambitious, and incapable of discerning good from evil.
Good from evil? Nihilism from Hope? Listen. There is no difference within the reality of life, within the relative and self-interested commodification of our values and traditions, especially our religious ones. If you're a good person you won't have to tell anyone about it, and if you're bad, then the same is true. The problem is with the people who don't seem to know the difference because they judge everything through their own lens. How else can you explain this administration, this circus of fascist clowns, trying to "brand" the death of Kirk, turn it into days of remembrance, glib patriot cliche. Hell, I didn't even know who Charlie Kirk was the day before he was publicly executed.
Now, we have to wait until another day to topple the stupid statues resurrected in his name and a few other "confederate" generals whose only claim to fame was they fanned the flames of discontent. I doubt us nihilists will see much else happening in the future besides tearing down what this current world politic has wrought. Wait until you see the first high rise go up in the Gaza Strip. Trump probably won't be around, maybe neither will Netanyahu, I won't either, but mark my words, there will not be mention of the horrible circumstances that brought it about.
The world is going to enter another phase of denial rather than the grief it deserves.
