What haven't we learned?

We haven’t learned yet from every war in our histories, especially modern war (in my lifetime), that there are no victors, ever. This is borne out by the current world war, another form of fascism vs whatever these fascists want us to think is the political opposite of fascism, between Iran, Israel, all the Middle East, Ukraine and Russia, and all the neo fascist dictators everywhere reemerging through electoral (yes, democratic) politics, the US, the hapless societies, such as Cuba, Venezuela, all sanctioned, international bank controlled islands, the aggrieved, the desired, the taken. And today, I should mention, Greenland. Stalemates, all. Just plain old suffering, for both claimed victors and defiant losers.

Humans are the most durable beings on the planet and yet the only species that can turn on itself with devastating consequences. A bad combination. Here we are, stuck to planet earth like lost souls from outer space, always wishing to return to heavenly peace, places no one has ever gone, returned from, to tell each other what paradise is made from. I can tell you pretty confidently paradise isn’t made up of anything man made. That much is true. I heard Naomi Klein say how bad it is and how Trump is at the center of all these problems and I have to disagree. Trump is only the messenger for the culture of America, all two hundred and fifty years of it. No cause for celebration. The fact of the matter is no nation has represented progress, England after the magna carta, the French Revolution, the constitution, the Russian revolution, mein kampf, colonialism, imperialism, capitalism. I don’t mention communism or communalism or socialism because those in a modern sense have never been able to manifest themselves within a nation state, only as tribal, community, or extended family arrangements. No doubt, all the western concepts based on supremacist religious, scientific, technological superiority, and super man idealist principles of politics have been failures as cohesive social measurements of what humans can accomplish, such as colonial, imperial, and capitalistic motivations. All have been instrumental in the spread of chaos, disorder, and most basically, the development of violence, or might makes right, as a human tool. It’s true that non western civilizations, such as the Aztec, Incan, kingdoms of Africa and Asia, followed similar paths of historical significance. The development of writing in those nation state type civilizations preserved both the idea of power being a supposed “natural” politic while also institutionalizing whatever authoritarian hierarchies existed, for instance, beliefs in man’s supernatural inheritance from “god(s)” to man. From early historic records, such as the bible, the Homeric tales, Roman, Greek, Irish poems, storytelling to modern tomes on the economic and art of war humans love to hate, we have risen no further than what our stories have told us we are. Our gods and politicians have not been good to us.

So, to be even more specific, I believe the main problem is not trump but the system created in the historical record as manifest destiny. If the majority of human fate is wrapped up in pre-history, supported only by storytelling tradition or written down in the collision of civilized authoritarian imperial historians, (winners and losers), we have no real, in time, verifiable accounts as to how pre historians lived and got along, although many of these societies were very populous and engineered lasting construction projects to tell us they were here. The main idea behind the fascist ideas of this current bunch is that there was a time in America we could all return to, kind of like the fountain of youth, which old ponce de Leon never found there in Florida. But they can’t say where or when that time was because, of course, it never existed. We’re all just being taken for a ride down the old road of the age of exploration, where history tells us that the entire western hemisphere, Africa, and much of Asia was open to discovery and domination by the vandal, hun, saxons, anglos, moor invasion hordes. (I want to mention the recent change of the maps used by the early explorers because as usual, they’re the ones who drew them. As it turns out they’re biased perspectives which gave smaller status to continents such as Africa, Asia, and the southern half of the western hemisphere, exaggerating the north Americas, Europe, much of the northern hemisphere, including Greenland. The new maps actually put the continents in perspective as to their actual land mass. And guess what? Trumps probably been looking at Greenland from an old explorer map, but sorry chum, it’s not that big, but it is melting like the climatologists say it is. Antarctica is the largest and I can hardly wait until whichever of the current militarized nation states wants to colonize it, the fight will continue. There’s still a lot of ground to fight for. These geological areas, such as Israel, Ukraine, that seem so important now and which are in the middle of an adverse climate change scenarios, will amount to nothing in the long run. Israel is a good example of a people tied to nearly all the old-world illusions about the earth in general and how even three thousand years of warfare and heavenly promises is not going to make it into the future, except as another cautionary tale no one will pay attention to. Nations built on graveyards of the mass murder of human predecessors are doomed to be hollow places like Chernobyl, Troy, Pompei, thousands of semi-ruined past, present and future towns, cities and nations scattered around the world. Most of what’s happening today is ironically the difference between what science has been telling us about the planet we live on and what religionists, authoritarians, and snake oil salesmen want us to believe or accept so they can go against all the prehistoric and historic realities common people everywhere have developed in order to cooperate, coexist, and collaborate with each other.

Long before Israel was given permission by their god and the UN, long before Columbus set sail on the ocean blue, long before genghis khan, long before napoleon, long before the constitution, and long before the Old Testament, humans had a natural fear of the unknown, but always a willingness to band together to handle the rigors, beauty and challenges of the real natural world, not the artificial world created by force, violence, and evil. And the majority of us always reminded how inconsequential we are in their scheme of things, Yet, I still believe in the natural but slow order of things, because in some massive couvade birthing process we will emerge from the forests, plains, deserts, mountains and seas to create what has not yet been created. We will prevail over the current warlords of the modern world because the only real power they hold is as fake and worthless as their artifice. Every historic warlord, fascist dictatorship, anywhere and everywhere, has left behind a mess of bodies, pain, chaos, and everyone one of them is buried, dead, and gone. Soon, these will end up the same. For me the names will go with me to my grave but my granddaughter will have new names, new challenges to take on. Sent from my iPad
