Tried to listen to it all, but was so disgusted with Marco Rubio racist, ethnic centrist denial of all culture, science, and religious influence of everything non western civ.
This was a speech to the Munich Security Conference on Valentines Day 2026 but there was no love, except for the love of white supremacy. I wonder if he or Trump actually sees Spain or Portugal as part of Europe, since they have dubious racial and ethnic purity issues, but you know he's speaking trumpese when he says Europe shares the distinction of having begotten the freedoms, culture, religions of European immigrants, who, now, of course, should be forbidden to enter our nation as a matter of security.
When Rubio says America wants Europe to be strong, it means buy, buy, buy those f35's, those tanks, those futureless weapon systems that reasonable people throughout the world never want to be used because if they are used, then the world is ended.
He says, We'll go it alone if we have to, but we prefer our alliance with a united Europe.
It was mentioned the day before, when Rubio wasn't there, that the super power status of the United States has always been dependent/structured on the backs of Europe ( and, I might add, on the philosophy of white supremacy). Without European involvement, the entire military and economic support for every war since the end of WW2 would have fallen on the us alone, a burden no nation could sustain. European nations have contributed manpower, money, equipment, and philosophical (political) support. That isn't to say they are more than willing to push their agenda whenever the US gives them the opportunity. It's true, it's been a mutual admiration society between the Europe that provided the initial instruments of democracy and humanism and being the victims of their own duplicity ( taxation without representation).
Rubio's speech though, filled with racist, anti-humanist cultural tropes, couched in reasonable assertions that the world is changing and it's time, according to them, that the people (meaning other nations) recognize, there's a new sheriff in town, and he's not a nice guy.
I want to say something about Noam Chomsky. Chomsky has been shown to be, through the Epstein files, a typical Epstein "survivor" until now. One of those, like the Clintons, the Trump cultists and many other redacted blackout names, those who would have never come out about anything and who still to this day remain silent about not just their relationship with Epstein but what they knew about him. Chomsky though did do something that I haven't seen done yet from the files, he actually defends Epstein from what he (Chomsky) thought was "cancel culture". Poor Epstein, being accused of child trafficking and Chomsky thought it (society) was trying to cancel him out.
Nothing much there, other than circumstantial evidence, and a few others will suffer a guilty conscience or make an attempt to save their careers, may leave their jobs or suffer public condemnation, but its too big, too complicated for the American public which likes its tragedies either buried or more easily assimilated into whatever other prejudices they hold dear. Other examples of this are strewn throughout American history. The ones I've lived through, such as Kennedy and other assassinations, Vietnam, the various economic recessions and downturns, 9/11, Iraq, Afghanistan, and now the Trump Fascist Revolution. But still, my American skin saves me from the rest of the world's real troubles, while I slumber inside the belly of the beast.
