What is to be done? Evil must run its course because there is no moral imperative or cure. Evil is our problem. It depends on and is composed of all that humans fear and don't understand and of course, leads into all religions, or national ideals (which have taken over the duties of religion in the modern world). Both religion and its progeny, nationalism or dedication to idealistic democratic or political institutional loyalty, which have both demonstrated throughout history they're incapable of moving human imagination beyond the confines of a limited physical and spiritual existence.
