I don't believe in religion, faith, hope, charity, or generic progressive politics as a recipe to prevent mob fascism. Fascism relies on a form of populism, much like passive progressivism, to gain power but also utilizes political, and/or military power, distains legal and institutional/constitutional establishment, an attribute that feeds into the natural authoritarian element in the human brain. We humans, unfortunately, have over the years become immune to accepting our freedom and independence as worth fighting for, both individually and socially, as authoritarians (the medias euphemism for fascism) but also charismatic personalities, have sometimes quietly and not so quietly, come to the forefront of politics to usurp our rights. If there's one thing clear, fighting for freedom is not only a right but a necessity in the human created political jungle we have surrounded ourselves with.
